Choose whether photographs taken in “tall” (portrait) 
orientation are automatically rotated for display in the 
monitor.

[ON]

“Tall” (portrait) orientation photos taken with [ON] 
selected for [AUTO IMAGE ROTATION] are displayed 
in tall orientation during playback (tall orientation 
images are displayed at 2/3 size of other images to fit 
monitor).

[OFF]

“Tall” photos are displayed in “wide” (landscape) 
orientation.

Photographs taken while [ON] (the default option) is 
selected contain information on camera orientation, 
allowing them to be rotated automatically during playback 
(

➝p.50) or when viewed in attached software. The 

following orientations are recorded:

• Camera orientation is not recorded when [OFF] is 

selected. Choose this option when taking photographs 
with the lens pointing up or down.

• In continuous mode (

➝p.66), orientation recorded for 

first shot applies to all images in same burst, even if 
camera orientation is changed during shooting.
