8. Maintenance
Move the CO Alarm to a remote location, to prevent possible damage or 
contamination of the sensor, prior to performing any of the following:
• Staining or stripping floors or furniture, painting or wall-papering,
• Using aerosols or adhesives
     WARNING: Reinstall the CO Alarm as soon as possible to 
assure continuous protection.
The following is a list of substances that at high levels can damage the 
sensor or cause temporary readings that are not CO readings:
• Ethylene, ethanol, alcohol, iso-propanol, benzene, toluene, ethyl 
acetate, hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide.
• Also most aerosol sprays, alcohol based products, paint, thinner, 
solvent, adhesive, hair spray, after shave, perfume, auto exhaust 
(cold start) and some cleaning agents.
Placing unit into shut down mode at end of its useful life.
Once the unit has entered end of life or error mode it is necessary to 
turn the unit off. This stops it from making a sound and also discharg-
es the remaining capacity of the battery to render it safe.
1. Remove the bracket/back cover from 
the unit by sliding a screwdriverbe-
tween the unit and the cover at the 
recess in the center of the unit. This 
allows access to the back of the unit.
2. Once the back of the unit is visible, 
locate the expanded slot on thelower 
left hand side.
3.Using a flat blade screwdriver, put 
it in the slot and slide it toward the top. You should feel the switch 
inside the unit slide up and stop.Be sure to insert the screwdriver 
straight in and not at an angle where the switch might be missed.
The unit may make some brief noises 
but should be silent and not con-
tinue to beep after one (1) minute.
