RTC battery
The internal RTC battery backs up the Real Time
Clock (RTC) and calendar.
AC adaptor
The AC adaptor provides power to the system
and recharges the batteries when they are low. It
comes with a detachable power cord which will
either have a 2-pin or 3-pin plug enclosure.
As the AC adaptor is universal, it can receive a
range of AC voltages from 100 to 240 volts,
however you should note that the output current
varies among different models. Using the wrong
adaptor can damage your computer. Refer to the
section in Chapter 2, The Grand
Tour.
Hard disk drive or
Solid state drive
The size of the hard disk drive or Solid State
Drive varies depending on the model.
To check which type of HDD/SSD is included in
your model, open the TOSHIBA PC Diagnostic
Tool Utility by clicking Start -> All Programs ->
TOSHIBA -> Utilities -> PC Diagnostic Tool.
Some models are equipped with a "Solid State
Drive (SSD)" instead of a hard disk drive.
Please note that part of the hard disk or Solid
state drive's overall capacity is reserved as
administration space. Additional HDD/SSD drive
sizes may be introduced.
In this manual, the word "HDD" or "Hard disk drive" also refers to the
SSD unless otherwise stated.
SSD is a large-capacity storage media which uses Solid-State Memory
in place of a magnetic disk of the hard disk.
Under certain unusual conditions of prolonged non-use and/or exposure to
high temperatures, the SSD may be vulnerable to data retention errors.
