This page defines two special services: DMZ (demilitarized zone) for unrestricted two-way
communications and non-standard FTP port.

•  IP Address of DMZ host. If your special application or Internet game does not work with
the Special Applications settings, you can logically place it “in front” of the router’s NAT
firewall. Since this exposes the computer to unauthorized users from the Internet, this
feature should only be activated when necessary. The setting will correspond to the local
IP address for your computer. The range will be 1 to 254.
• Enable
this
setting.
•  Non-standard FTP port. For security reasons, you may need to use a port other than the
standard (21). Remember not to choose a port that will conflict with other services. For
security reasons, this setting will be cleared after you reboot the router.

Tip: The inbound packet filters will protect the DMZ host. See Security Settings > Packet Filters.
