The Adaptec Storage Enclosure 335SAS is an
internal hot-swappable disk drive enclosure
for up to four Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) or
Serial ATA (SATA), or Serial ATA II (SATA II)
hard disk drives. It occupies three half-height
5.25” slots in a server or workstation chassis
and supports low profile 3.5” hard disk
drives. Available in both beige and black,
the Adaptec 335SAS supports drive data
transfer rates up to 3Gb/s while still
supporting legacy 1.5Gb/s SATA drives.

Intelligent hardware features
The Adaptec 335SAS is an internal enclosure
that fits into any computer chassis that has
three available half-height 3.5” bays. In
addition to four low-profile 3.5” hard disk
drives, it has a slot for a low-profile CD-ROM
or DVD-ROM drive that can replace the
standard 5.25” half height CD-ROM or
DVD-ROM drive and free up one half-height
drive bay. The fan is a removable customer
replaceable unit. The Adaptec 335SAS supports
system monitoring via I2C and SES2 (SCSI
Enclosure Services 2). Activity and failure
LEDs let you see the status of each of the
four drives. It also has an audible alarm
and a fan failure LED.

Adaptec 335SAS compatibility

intelligent enclosure management support, the
Adaptec 335SAS provides system monitoring
information for fan and temperature failure.
It also provides failure indication for each hard
disk drive that is built into a RAID array. For
all RAID controller cards, the Adaptec 335SAS
allows you to directly connect drive activity
LEDs. LED signalling can be controlled via the
RAID controller card (cable comes with the
Adaptec 335SAS kit), the drive itself, or via an
I2C connection in accordance with the SES2
enclosure management specification.
