StorTrends
®
1000i is an affordable 1U, rack-mount storage appliance that
offers support for both block and file data. The iSCSI networked storage solution
merges Ethernet-based Storage Area Networks (IP-SAN) and Network Attached
Storage (NAS). ManageTrends
™
enables an administrator to coordinate all
functions relating to discovery, management, tracking and planning for future
storage growth. StorTrends 1000i is designed for SMBs (Small and Medium
Businesses) desiring a cost-effective and scalable iSCSI networked storage solution.
StorTrends 1000i merges block and file
data onto a storage appliance that handles
all your storage needs. The merged block
and file data is transferred over the
existing Ethernet network. Setup is quite
simple via an easy web-based management
interface that enables the administrator to
control key system parameters such as
health variables, iSCSI configuration
values, NAS file share and security
configurations.
ManageTrends is AMI's storage
management suite based on Microsoft’s
.NET technology. The storage
management suite discovers and manages
StorTrends 1000i devices across the
network and assists in analyzing and
tracking enterprise wide storage usage.
ManageTrends monitors the storage and
storage-related events, provides a detailed
analysis of the storage usage and the
availability of the storage servers.
A hierarchical view of the entire
storage, both block-based and file-based, is
provided and the administrator can create
a pool of storage from either internal or
external disks. RAID levels 0 (stripe), 1
(mirrored) and 5 (redundant) are
supported. Once created, a storage pool
can be divided into block accessible and/or
file accessible partitions. The block-based
storage pool can dynamically grow in the
future as the enterprise grows. This
enables organizations and their IT
managers to plan their storage capacity in
an efficient, cost-effective and just in time
manner.
Using ManageTrends, the user can
create several zones and map the iSCSI
targets to those zones. Key features of
zoning capabilities are as follows:
• Create, view or edit zone information,
• User defined name and comments for
the zone,
• Specify the iSCSI targets/LUNs to
participate in the zone and
• Complies with the iSNS Discovery
Domains (DD).
