7. ANALYZING A MONITOR TRACE
7.1. About this Chapter
This chapter describes the signalling protocol analysis function of the instrument. You
can analyze saved or live monitor traces directly on the instrument. For saving a

Various display modes are available to make data analysis easier. It is possible to
filter out data so that only the important messages are visible on the screen. Every
message is labelled with a date, time, and direction of the message (ÆTE or Æ NT).
The displayed data can be downloaded to a printer or a computer. You are also able
to save this filtered data, provided that enough memory is available.

You can display a trace in four modes:

Overview mode

Hexadecimal decoding mode
►
Mix decoding mode
►
Full decoding mode.
Filters and display modes are different for POTS accesses.
7.2. Analyzing a trace
To analyse a trace in overview mode:
