LDS Plus Reference Guide 

Expanded Function I is a message that allows the contents of the compose buffer to remain 
unchanged after the network device receives and acknowledges a message from the terminal. 

Expanded Function I sets the LDS Plus terminal parameter AltAckMode to No. When an operator 
sends a message to the host computer, the entire message remains in the compose buffer. See 
“Application” that follows. 

The AltAckMode parameter remains set to No until the host sends Expanded Function J to toggle 
the AltAckMode parameter to Yes or the operator powers the DOS terminal off.

When you set LDS Plus TE terminal parameters remotely from the NMWS, the pertinent NMWS 
parameters for this option are: 

Alt Acknowledge Mode (ACK). Refer to Chapter 1, “Introduction”, section titled 
“LXE 6200 Backbone Compatibility.”  

Use Expanded Function I to allow the operator to send the same form many times, but change 
only one of the fields for each transmission.  

After the DOS terminal sends the form, the DOS terminal redisplays the form unchanged.  

The operator then presses the [Enter] key to move the cursor to the field that needs to be changed, 
enters new data, and then sends the form again.
