announces the extension to the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco
®
7200, 7500, and 7600
series routers enhanced ATM port adapters (with part numbers starting PA-A3). Previously, the last day to order the
Cisco enhanced ATM port adapters was March 30, 2006. The new date for this end of sale action is December 31, 2006.
Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC)
until December 31, 2011.
Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco enhanced ATM port adapters. Table 2 lists the product part numbers
affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco Enhanced ATM Port Adapter (with part numbers starting PA-A6) for the Cisco 7200 Series, 7301,
7400 Series, 7500 Series, and 7600 Series routers, which supports advanced ATM hardware features such as per-virtual-circuit and per-virtual-path
traffic shaping, as well as all ATM service classes such as real-time variable bit rate (VBR-rt), constant bit rate (CBR), non-real-time variable bit rate
(VBR-nrt), available bit rate (ABR), and unspecified bit rate (UBR). The Cisco replacement enhanced ATM port adapter also supports 8191 ATM
virtual circuits-twice as many as the end-of-life enhanced ATM port adapter. Information about the replacement port adapters can be found at

provides relevant information for migrating from the end-of-life (PA-A3) to the replacement port adapters (PA-A6).

product failure or defect.

Attachment Date

existing service-and-support contract.
