VII. CHANGING THE BATTERY
Use a coin to open the battery cover. Remove
the cover and replace the battery. When finish,
turn the cover clockwise until it locks in place.
You will need to reset your stride and the clock
as these have been erased.

  humidity.

IX. LIMITED WARRANTY
This product is warranted by Acumen Inc.
for one year from date of purchase (with the
exception of batteries) against defects in
workmanship and material. During that period,
these defects will be repaired or the product
will be replaced at Acumen Inc. option without
charge. This warranty covers normal consumer usage
and does not cover damage which occurs in
shipment or failure which results from accident,
misuse, abuse, tampering, alteration or
disassembling of the product or improper
maintenance. This warranty is effective only
if the product is purchased and operated in
the USA and does not extend to any units
which have been used in violation of written
instructions furnished by Acumen Inc. or to
units which have been altered or modified
without authorization of Acumen Inc., or to
damage to products or parts thereof which
have had the serial number removed, altered,
defected or rendered illegible.
X. SERVICE & REPAIR
Do not attempt to repair your product. Should
the product malfunction, you should first call
(703) 904-0405 between the hours of 9am-
5pm Eastern Time and ask for CONSUMER
CUSTOMER SERVICE stating that you are
a consumer with a problem. If the problem
cannot be resolved, you will be asked to return
the product to the factory for repair. Under
no circumstances should you attempt to open
housing and repair the product. Should you
do this, your warranty will be voided.

a. Your name, address and phone number.
b. The date of purchase (or receipt as a gift)

     reason for return.
d. Seven dollars and fifty cents ($7.50) Check
    or Money Order payable to Acumen Inc.
    for return postage and handling.
e. To insure prompt  ‘In warranty’ service, be
    sure to include proof of date of purchase.
We recommend you take the necessary
precaution of insuring the parcel.

III. CALCULATING YOUR STRIDE
The Two default stride settings for WALK and
RUN modes in the PulseMate are, respective,
2 feet (~0.6 meter) and 3 feet (~0.9 meter).
These are averages taken from adult males. In
order to achieve accurate mileage results from
your PulseMate, it is important that both lengths
of your walking and running strides are correctly
entered into the unit. This can be done in two
ways, which are having the PulseMate
automatically calculate the stride or manually
inputting the stride lengths. For either case, first
plan a route for your exercise and measure out
a distance of exactly 30 feet (10m) for the
calculations.
Calculate By PulseMate
Step 1) Clip the PulseMate to your waist per
the above instructions. You may flip-up the unit
using the spring loaded clip for easy viewing
and operation of the unit.
Step 2) Press the Walk / Run button to toggle
between WALK or RUN modes. Chose one at
a time to enter the stride.
Step 3) Press the FUNC button to get into
the DISTANCE mode where the word “Miles”
following three number digits appears on the
screen.

II. BEFORE YOU BEGIN
In order to get the most accurate results from
your PulseMate, please read the instructions
completely. This electronic pedometer
should be worn as close to the center of
your body as possible (Just to the left or
right of your belt buckle). Walk on hard
level surfaces such as a road, track or walking
path. Take even strides when walking or
running and avoid sudden or sharp turns.
Step 4) Press and hold the PROGRAM
button for one second till the current stride
setting is in display and flashing.
Step 5) Bring the unit back to its original
position by flipping it downward. Go ahead
and walk or run the measured 30 feet (10 m)
while the display is flashing.
Step 6) Press the PROGRAM button once
again. The display will cease flashing. The
number that now appears on the screen is
your automatically calculated stride. To check
for accuracy, repeat the above procedure.
Manually Input Your Stride
Step 1) Determine your WALK or RUN stride
by walking or running the previously measured
30 feet (10m) and count the number of steps
you take.
Step 2) Take the number of steps and divide
it into 30 feet  (or 10m) For example: 30 feet
divided by 10 steps taken is 3 feet.
Step 3) Enter the calculated stride value by
pressing Function button to get into the
DISTANCE mode.
Step 4) Press and hold PROGRAM button
for one second till the stride setting is located.
Step 5) Press the     /     buttons to either
increase or decrease the stride (each increment
/decrement is 0.1 feet or 0.05m) until the desired
number is located.
Step 6) Press the PROGRAM button once
again to stop the flashing screen and switch
back to the DISTANCE mode display. Your
stride is now locked in the unit.
Note: Make sure you walk or run with even
strides for best accuracy.
IV. PROGRAMMING YOUR WEIGHT
Step 1) Press the Function button repeatedly
to get into the CALORIES mode where the
data of calories burned during the exercise
is displayed.
Step 2) Press and hold the PROGRAM button
for one second until the current weight setting
appears and flashing.
Step 3) Press the    /    buttons to either
increase or decrease the weight setting until
the desired number is located.
Step 4) Press the PROGRAM button once
again to stop the flashing screen and switch
back to the CALORIES mode display. Your
weight is now locked into the program and
allows the unit to calculate the calories burned
during your exercise.
V. BEGINNING YOUR WALK OR RUN
Attach your PulseMate as previously instructed.
The pedometer, by default, begins in the TIME
mode after being powered up.
Start Recording
Press the Start / Stop button once to enter the
STOPWATCH mode and the Running-Man
figure in the lower left hand corner of the display
will also begin to run. This indicates that the
unit is now ready to record your distance.
Stop Recording
To stop recording your distance travelled,
press the Start / Stop button again. The
Running Man will stop running.
Note: You may flip up the unit to view the
screen and operate the buttons.
Auto Stop / Scan
Flip up the unit to enter the AUTO STOP/SCAN
mode. The unit will automatically stop all
measuring and begin to scan all of the data
that have just been recorded, one by one
from STOPWATCHDISTANCESTEPS,
CALORIES, to AVERAGE SPEED, and back
to whichever mode the unit was in before the
unit was flipped. Bring the unit back to its
original position by flipping it downward. Press
the Start/Stop button to begin measuring again.
Check Your Heart Rate
Put one of your fingers on top of the Heart
Rate sensor, hold the position for 10 seconds
and the heart rate value will display on the
screen. For accurate, you ‘d better touch the
sensor properly with stop walking.

Using the FUNC Button
You may press the FUNC button to toggle
between the following modes.
Note: You can switch between the modes any
time before, during and after your exercise without
affecting the accuracy of the unit.
Using the Reset Button
• The Reset button on the PulseMate is operational
  ONLY when the unit is stopped, which is indicated
  by the Running Man being static.
• Press the Reset button to set the unit back to
  zero. It will reset the data recorded in all modes
  except your recorded stride settings.
• Do not press the Reset button if you want to
   save and accumulated the results over a period
  of time. In this way, the unit will show where
  you left off from the previous exercise period.

Using & Setting the Clock
Press the Time button once to enter the TIME
mode, Press and hold the PROGRAM button
for one second, the hour will start flashing. Press
the     /     buttons to increase or decrease the
hour. Press PROGRAM again and the minute
will start flashing, follow the same procedures to
adjust the minute.
Press the PROGRAM button once more and the
time is saved.
Note: If no key is pressed within 60 seconds,
the unit will exit the Set Mode automatically.
VI. SWITCHING BETWEEN KM AND
MILES
The KM/Miles switch is located inside the battery
compartment. To change the unit setting, remove
the battery and use a pen to set your desire unit.
