Result Codes and Machine Status
Introduction
12
0Ch
Implicit R/W Position Not Established - An attempt was made to read or
write a Physical Block, but no Implicit Position has been established at
which to read or write.
13
0Dh
Address Parameters Inconsistent With Tape Format - A Write Physical
Block or Write Filemark command was received which specifies
address (SubArea) parameters which are inconsistent with valid tape
format continuity at the Implicit Position; for example an FDBN
which
leaves a gap in Data Block numbers, given the file section's Data Block
size.
14
0Eh
Volume Info Not Found - A Tape Load operation was unsuccessful in
reading VFI information from the tape. It may be that the tape is un-
initialized.
15
0Fh
SubArea Recovery Fault - A command involving helical data has failed
due to inability to extract verifiably correct SubArea parameters from
the tape.

10h
EOM
*
Encountered - The End of Media (Three Double Frames prior to
EOP
*
) was encountered while attempting to write a Physical Block.
The write command was not successful, and if an automatic re-write
was in progress, an EOR/E sequence was written.
17
11h
EOR Encountered - EOR may be encountered while positioning, if
found at or before the target address. In this case, the position
command is considered successful, and the resultant Implicit Position
is at EOR. EOR may also be encountered while reading, when the
Implicit Position is at the EOR mark. This is a command failure, since
there is no user data at EOR.
18
12h
Reserved
19
13h
Fatal MSR Internal Error - An internal error has been encountered
which prevents further operations until a power-up or hard reset
occurs.
20
14h
Reference Number Not Found - An Abort command was received from
the MSI specifying an Oldest Reference Number to abort, but no such
reference numbered command is currently in process.
21
15h
Physical Block Not Validated - While reading, data has been
transferred to the MSI which cannot be qualified as a valid Physical
Block, due to unrecoverable subarea data between this Double Frame
and one with the next sequence tag.
22
16h
Invalid MSI Command Parameter - A command was received from the
MSI which contains an out of range (or otherwise invalid) parameter or
combination of parameters.
