Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference.
Warning
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, 
sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given 
supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their 
safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Do not immerse the scales in water or any other liquid and do not allow liquid to enter the 
scales.

Always place the appliance on a stable, level and horizontal surface when you use it.
Make sure your hands and the appliance are dry when you insert the batteries.
A microwave oven or a mobile phone may cause interference, which can lead to unreliable 
weighing results.
Use the kitchen scales at a safe distance of at least 1.5 metres from a working microwave oven, 
or switch off the microwave oven.  (Fig. 1)
Keep a mobile phone that is switched on at a safe distance of at least 2 metres from the scales, 
or switch off the mobile phone.  (Fig. 2)
Electromagnetic fields (EMF)
This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled 
properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on 
scientific evidence available today.
Preparing for use
The appliance runs on four AAA 1.5-volt batteries (not included). We advise you to use Philips 
PowerLife batteries on account of their long life and environmental friendliness.
Do not use rechargeable batteries in this appliance.
Inserting batteries
Make sure your hands and the appliance are dry when you insert the batteries.

 Remove the battery compartment cover.  (Fig. )
  
 Place the batteries in the battery compartment and reattach the battery compartment 
cover.  (Fig. 4)
Make sure the + and - poles of the batteries point in the right direction.
Using the appliance
The scales indicate weight in graduations of 1 gram from 2 gram onwards.
The appliance can weigh up to kg. If you put a weight of more than kg on the weighing 
plate, ‘Err’ appears on the display. 
Weighing directly on the weighing plate

 Press the on/off button I briefly to switch on the scales.  (Fig. 5)
The appliance is ready for use after  seconds.
  
 Put the ingredients to be weighed directly on the weighing plate.   (Fig. 6)
The weight is displayed immediately (Fig. 7).
  
 Press the on/off button I again to switch off the appliance.
