WHAT
 THE FX86B DOES
The FX86B creates a grinding wall of noise perfect for
harmonic corruption of the highest order.
The FX86B
emulates the death metal and grindcore sounds of Napalm
Death. Carcass, Brutal T
ruth, Pungent Stench, and others.
One advantage of the FX86B is it will oscillate when the
R.I.P .  (LEVEL) control is turned up, allowing oscillation at
any amp volume.  There is no distortion control.  W
e just
maxed it out and tore it off!
CONNECTING THE FX86B
Connect your guitar to the input of the FX86B. Connect the
OUTPUT of the FX86B to your amp (or to the input of
another effects device you may be running).
T o eliminate the
need for a 9-volt battery, attach the DOD PS200R power
supply to the AC adapter jack.
FEATURES
LED indicator shows status of effect and battery condition.
Active switching for noiseless operation.
Easy access battery compartment.
Adapter jack for AC operation.
Rugged die-cast metal case.
Three year limited warranty.
Rubber non-skid bottom.
CONTROLS
R.I.P . (LEVEL): Matches the distortion level with original
signal level.
CAUTION: T
urning the R.I.P .  (LEVEL) control clockwise
may cause some varieties of cats to gather and fight with
one another (this can easily be rehearsed for future
performances). T
urning the control counterclockwise can be
useful for a little midnight thrashing to avoid an encounter
with large numbers of law enforcement personnel.
GUTS (LOW): This controls the low end of the distortion
sound. T
urn it up to make your speakers groan.
PAIN (MID):
This controls the mid frequencies
of the distortion. By turning it down the low end becomes a
monster.
Turn it up and you will begin to feel the P
AIN!
SCREAM (HIGH): Controls the amount of high end on the
distortion. T
urn it up for brutal chainsaw pick attack! Note:
DOD will not be held responsible for any damage caused by
those “formally dead” who are suddenly awakened by the
FX86B.
FOOTSWITCH: Switches the distortion effect in or out of the
signal path.
LED INDICAT
OR: Lights when the distortion is enabled, and
is not lit when the distortion is bypassed.
JACKS: Input, Output, AC
Adapter (use the DOD PS200R
power supply to eliminate the need for a 9 volt battery).
OPERATION OF
THE FX86B
The FX86B is a high-gain effect designed to rattle bones,
(dead ones or live ones). This is not a pedal for the faint
of heart (or perhaps it is)! We
 cranked the distortion flat
out and added three EQ control: GUTS (LOW), PAIN
(MID), and SCREAM (HIGH).
Alternate guitar or bass tunings aid in the quest to raise
the dead with music. T
ry tuning to C# (C#, F#, B, E, G#,
C#) or C (C, F , Bb, Eb, G, C).
This will give your guitar or
bass that mean tone. What more do you need? A

lobotomy!
When setting up the effect, use the R.I.P
.  (LEVEL)
control to match the level of the distortion effect with the
level of the original input signal.  The control should be
set so that there is a slight increase in level when the
effect is switched into the signal path.
The GUTS (LOW) knob controls the low-frequency (bass)
content of the signal (when the effect is on).
Turning this
control clockwise increases the low-
frequency content of the signal.
The SCREAM (HIGH) knob control the high-frequency
(treble) content of the guitar signal (when the effect is
on). This control adds more edge to your sound, allowing
your guitar sound to shatter glass (or at least sound like
it).
The PAIN (MID) knob controls the mid-frequencies and
can make your skin crawl if turned up.  When it’s turned
down, it makes the GUTS (LOW) and SCREAM (HIGH)
controls even more effective.
On the following pages, some examples of different types
of sounds are shown, along with graphic representations
of how to set the knobs. Since good (or bad) guitar sounds
are a subjective matter, use these examples as starting
points to create your own sounds that meet your specific
tastes, or lack thereof.
This guitar sound is sure to destroy some speakers.  The
dropped mids enhance the bass and highs.
This hard sound has a slight drop in the mids that gets the
point across instantly.
This sound is a wall of noise with an ultra low, low end and
blaring highs
IMPORTANT NOTES
 • The FX86B battery is in use whenever the INPUT jack is
plugged in.  If you are not using the FX86B, be sure to
unplug the cable from INPUT jack.  This will prevent
unnecessary battery drain.
 • Remove the battery whenever the unit is not going to be
used for an extended period of time.  This will prevent
possible damage due to leaking battery fluids.
 • If the FX86B fails to switch in or out, or the LED indicator
stays lit, the battery needs to be replaced.
 • Use of any AC adapter other than the DOD PS200R will
void the warranty of this product.
 • Unauthorized repair of the FX86B will void the warranty.
Should your FX86B require service, contact your DOD FX
pedal dealer for return / repair information.
