JazzEditor MIDI Settings
There are two MIDI-related settings in the JazzEditor settings window. Click the Settings
icon to see them.

The menu labelled MIDI Out shows all of the available MIDI sources on your computer
as well as the JazzEditor Output. We recommend using the JazzEditor Output since the
JazzEditor will not retain the name of an application’s input the next time you launch if

MIDI Mapping
In order to generate MIDI messages from the objects you touch on the Lemur, you have
to establish a mapping between the 0-1 values transmitted by the Lemur and MIDI
values, which are typically integers (whole numbers) between 0 and 127. Many different
mappings are possible, but we’ll start with a simple example.

• Create a Fader object in the JazzEditor called Fader. Set the Value display to be x
multiplied by 127 and check the box next to value as shown below. This will show the
MIDI value on the Lemur’s screen, but you don’t have to do this to scale the value to
the MIDI range. In a moment, you’ll see an AutoScale feature that does this for you
easily.

• To assign a MIDI message to this fader, click the MIDI button at the bottom of the
JazzEditor window.
