Sounds a lot bigger than it looks
The “wide sound stage”,
the depth and the
precision of the compact
BS 63 amaze – whether
placed on a shelf or free-
standing on a speaker
stand. Critical hi-fi users
and cinema enthusiasts
alike get their money’s
worth because the
speakers sound
considerably larger than
they are.
For home cinema
applications, the BS 63
naturally assumes the role
of the rear effects
loudspeaker. When used
with the floorstanding FS
68 and the CC 61 centre
speaker, the components
of the 60 series combine
to produce a full and
enticing sound.
In keeping with the
concept of the new 60
series - “performance over
appearance” - the
musicality and the sound
were the particular focus
during its development.
With its unobtrusive
appearance, it exemplifies
the art of noble
understatement.

Technical features/ highlights
•
A 25 mm tweeter with a silk fabric dome and ferrofluid-cooled aluminium voice coil operates smoothly from 2,300
to 25,000 Hz. An additional cooling element on the rear along with a high powered
to 25,000 Hz. An additional cooling element on the rear along with a high powered
neodymium magnet combine
to give the tweeter high efficiency, a ruler flat
frequency response and low
magnetic leakage.

The new 175 mm bass driver with ELAC’s legendary aluminium sandwich
technology incorporates a new frame arrangement to reduce unwanted
cone oscillation. This new frame has allowed the developers to improve
the driver’s large signal behaviour and, by carefully optimising ventilation
of the cone’s rear wave, achieve astoundingly clear and punchy bass.

Another highlight is the use of the CALE computer program to optimise
acoustic power tuning and refine perceived psycho-acoustic aspects. The
result is an exceptionally homogenous sound stage that portrays realistic
3-dimensionality and depth, even in smaller listening environments.
