ILFORD GALERIE Prestige Gold Fibre Silk has a baryta (barium sulphate) 

coated layer that is traditionally applied to fibre photographic paper base 

underneath the silver halide emulsion layers. This baryta layer, which is 

beneath the ink receiving layer, offers enhanced definition, extended tonal 

range, and excellent archival properties, all of which are important to the 

demanding professional digital photographer and printer today. Coated 

fibre papers have a unique look and feel, which has become a standard 

among art photographers worldwide over the course of more than a 

century.

For best results the use of good quality pigment inkjet printers and the 

corresponding vendor’s inks are recommended. Pigmented inks need time 

to “set” before handling and may lead to some loss of gloss in printed 

areas.

Silk in terms of its specification for caliper (thickness) and also weight.

Please handle the media with care after printing with pigment inks and 

allow 24 hours for the pigment inks to fully cure. The actual drying times 

will vary according to the inks used, the ambient conditions during and 

after printing and the ink loads. It is recommended to follow the suggested 

post printing times outlined by the printer manufacturer for the inks in used. 

We do not recommend the use of matt black inks with the GALERIE Prestige 

Gold Fibre Silk as these may smudge and do not adhere well to the
