5.  Connecting charging/jumper leads
To connect a lead to the crocodile clamp you will need a slotted screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver,
and pliers.
Use a suitable cable with a cable cross-section of 16 to 25 mm² / AWG 5 to AWG 3.
1.  Prepare the lead by stripping one to two centimetres.
2.  To connect the lead to the crocodile clamp, the clamp must be disassembled.
3.  On one side of the crocodile clamp, there is a plastic pin at the joint (6). This pin must first be removed.
4.  To open it, press the ends of the crocodile clamp together using one hand. Insert the slotted screwdriver
from the front into the opening and push out the plastic pin. Remove the pin from the crocodile clamp.
5.  Hold the crocodile clamp in such a way so that the ends face towards you. Carefully slide the slotted
screwdriver at the joint (6) between the upper (2) and the lower (5) clamp part. Carefully pry the joint open
until the parts come apart.
6.  Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the screw on the lower crocodile clamp part (5) and remove the
clamping jaw (8).
7.  Put the bare wire of the prepared lead between the clamping elements (7).
8.  Using pliers, push the clamping elements (7) down until they lie firmly on the bare wire.
9.  Put the clamping jaw (8) with the lead back onto the lower crocodile clamp part (5) and tighten the screw.
10. Put the lower crocodile clamp (5) onto the upper crocodile clamp part (2). Ensure that the spring (4) fits
properly and the cable is not pinched. Press both clamp parts together until they click into place.
11. To open it, press the ends of the crocodile clamp together using one hand. Insert the plastic pin again.
Ensure the pin rests on the light switch, as it will not function properly otherwise.
6.  Inserting / replacing batteries
1.  Replacement of the batteries can be done more easily when the crocodile clamp has been disassembled.
Follow steps 3 to 5 in the “Connecting charging/jumper leads” section.
2.  Using a suitable Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the fastening screw on the battery compartment (3).
3.  Remove the battery compartment cover and take the used batteries out.
4.  Insert two AG13 button cell batteries, observing the correct polarity. Follow the markings on the sticker of
the battery compartment cover.
5.  Close the battery compartment by tightening the fastening screw.
6.  To reassemble both clamp parts, follow steps 10 to 11 in the “Connecting charging/jumper leads” section.
Replace the batteries when the LED becomes weaker or does not light up at all anymore.
