OPTICAL EXCELLENCE
Drawing on Canon’s 70 years of
experience in optical engineering,
high-performance lenses are designed
to capture every scene with pin-sharp
clarity and realistic, vibrant colours.
Powerful optical zoom lenses magnify up
to 4x, depending on the model. Digital
IXUS cameras include Canon’s unique
optical technology, such as UA (Ultra-
high refractive index Aspherical) lenses
to maintain seductively slender profiles
without compromising on image quality.
The Digital IXUS 860 IS features a 28mm
wide-angle zoom lens, for sweeping
cityscapes and groups shots that fit
everyone in without taking steps back.
HIGH ISO FOR FASTER SNAPS
The second line of defence against blur is high ISO, which works by
allowing faster shutter speeds. Auto ISO Shift boosts settings just
enough to combat camera shake. For blur caused by subject movement,
ISO settings up to 1600 can be manually selected – or use High ISO Auto
and let the camera decide. High ISO can also preserve the ambience of
low-light settings by eliminating the need for a flash.
IMAGE STABILIZER
IS stands for Canon’s optical Image Stabilizer technology, as in
Digital IXUS 960 IS, Digital IXUS 950 IS and Digital IXUS 860 IS
Optical IS detects and corrects camera-shake by adjusting the lens with
absolute accuracy up to 4,000 times per second. So even at slower shutter
speeds, you still get blur-free handheld images.
