One of t he main feat ures of AVG is on-demand scanning. On-demand t est s are
designed t o scan various parts of your comput er whenever suspicion of possible virus
infect ion arises. Anyway, it  is strongly recommended t o carry out such t est s regularly
even if you t hink t hat no virus can be found on your comput er.

In t he AVG 8.5 Anti-Virus you will find t wo t ypes of scanning predefined by t he
soft ware vendor:

Scan whole computer -  scans your ent ire comput er for possible infect ions and/or
pot entially unwanted programs. This t est  will scan all hard drives of your comput er, will
det ect  and heal any virus found, or remove t he detect ed infect ion t o t he 

.

Scanning of t he whole of your comput er should be scheduled on a workst at ion at  least
once a week.

The Scan of a whole computer can be launched direct ly from t he 

by clicking on t he scan's icon. No further specific  set t ings have t o be configured for
t his t ype of scan, t he scanning will start  immediat ely wit hin t he Scan is running dialog
 (see screenshot). The scanning can be t emporarily int errupt ed (Pause) or canceled (
Cancel) if needed.
