FREQUENTLY
ASKED
QUESTIONS
WHAT
DOES
THE
MAKE
UP
AIR
KIT
FROM
FABER
DO?
The
Faber
make
up
air
kit
helps
to
replenish
the
air,
which
is
exhausted
from
the
home
when
using
your
kitchen
range
hood.
The
replenished
air
returning
into
the
home
is
clean,
healthy
outside
air
that
flows
thru
the
open
fresh
air
damper
when
a
range
hood
is
opera9ng
above
400
cfm
of
air
movement.
The
motorized
fresh
air
damper
opens
when
the
“air
switch”
is
ac9vated
inside
the
duct
switch
assembly
located
above
the
range
hood
and
then
the
damper
closes
when
the
range
hood
motor
is
turned
off.
Your
Faber
range
hood
will
operate
effec9vely
since
there
is
an
adequate
supply
of
fresh
air
to
draw
from.
DOES
MY
FURNACE
OR
WATER
HEATER
GET
COMBUSTION
AIR
FROM
THIS
SYSTEM?
No
this
system
only
helps
to
make
up
air
that
is
exhausted
by
the
range
hood.
HOW
DO
I
KNOW
IF
I
NEED
MAKE
UP
AIR?
Today’s
newly
constructed
homes
have
very
9ght
insula9on,
which
prevent
normal
passive
airflow
from
coming
back
into
the
home.
A
Make
up
air
kit
system
is
recommended
for
most
new
home
construc9ons
or
when
over
higher
cfm
range
hoods
are
installed
in
any
home.
Otherwise
a
make
up
air
system
may
be
required
by
local
building
codes.

WHAT
HAPPENS
AFTER
A
POWER
OUTAGE?
