Troubleshooting the printer

If the printer is not operating correctly
 
You may be able to identify or correct problems yourself. If possible, 
make a test print. UseTable 4-4 to find and try to correct the problem. If 
you cannot solve the problem, service is required. See "Getting 
additional help" on page 4-19.

Printer does not turn on. • The printer power is 
not on.
• Cables and cords are 
not connected
securely.
 
 
Make sure the power switch is in the “I”
position.
 
 
Make sure cables and cords are 
connected properly.
Printing takes much 
longer than usual.
• The image file size 
may be larger than 
usual and may there-
fore take longer to 
process.
• It is too warm.
 
 
Wait a few minutes.
 
 
Turn the printer off for ten minutes to let it 
cool.
 
 
Consider moving the printer to a location 
where the temperature is lower.
Nothing happens when a 
job is sent.
 
 
Wait to see if the job is still processing.
 
 
Try printing a file that you have printed 
previously.
 
 
Verify all export module or printer driver 
settings.
 
 
Check communications settings for
compatibility between printer and host.

Disconnect the cable from the printer and 
try a test print. If this does not work, 
service is required.
Narrow white lines run 
lengthwise on prints.

of this guide.)
White or colored speck-
les or spots appear on 
prints. (See image 3 at 
the end of this guide.)
Dust or dirt has 
contaminated the print 
head.
 
 
Make sure the media in the tray is clean 
and streak-free.
 
 
Make sure the ribbon is clean.
 
 
Clean the print head.
If the problem persists, service is required.
