The LR1530A-R3 and
LR1531A-R2 support up to
20 Frame Relay links, and
the LR1535A-R2 supports
up to 40 Frame Relay
links.
Two models feature your
choice of a built-in 56K or
T1 CSU/DSU.
RFC 1490 compliant, so
they’re compatible with
your existing Frame
Relay equipment.
Firewall security
prevents intruders from
entering your office
network via the Internet.
The LR1535A-R2 also
features robust
management.
N
ow with upgraded firmware,
the Series 500 Branch Office
Frame Relay Routers give your
Ethernet LAN access to Frame
Relay networks.
The routers are loaded with
features. The LR1531A-R2 even
includes an internal 56K CSU/DSU,
while the LR1535A-R2 includes an
internal T1 CSU/DSU.
All Series 500 Branch Office
Frame Relay Routers are capable
of establishing PPP-MP links
over Frame Relay. The LR1530A-
R3 model sends compressed data
up to 128 kbps and uncompressed
data up to 56 kbps. The LR1531A-
R2’s internal CSU/DSU handles
data at speeds up to 56 kbps while
10BASE-T communications run at
10 Mbps. The LR1535A-R2’s built-
in CSU/DSU enables data commu-
nications at T1 speeds of 1.544
Mbps or E1 speeds of 2.048 Mbps.
The LR1530A-R3 and LR1531A-
R2 support  up to 20 Data-Link
Connection Identifiers (DLCIs),
allowing you to make up to 20
Frame Relay links to various
devices; the LR1535A-R2 doubles

that, enabling you to establish
up to 40 Frame Relay links! The
LR1535A-R2 also has full-fledged
security plus simple configuration
and management features.
Additional features include:
• IP/IPX™ routing protocols
help you track Internet
transmissions and data
moving between workstation
programs running on
different network nodes.
• Bootstrap Protocol Relay
Agent (BootP Relay)—
essential for any robust
client-server framework.
• Easy installation with the
NetWizard Web-based
interface.
• Internet feature set.
• Programmable filter.
The routers also come with
NetSAFE Firewall, which prevents
intruders from entering your
office’s network through the Inter-
net. It secures stations on your
local network while still allowing
access to your Web server.
In addition, the routers are
also RFC 1490 compliant—they
will work with other compliant
products you may already have,
no matter which vendor
manufactured them—so Frame
Relay implementation incompati-
bilities are a thing of the past! The
routers are designed to augment
your Frame Relay capabilities, not
replace your initial investment.
Frame Relay features include:
• LMI support for Annex A
(ANSI), Annex D (CCITT),
and LMI type.
• Plug-and-play with default
learning of LMI type.
• Plug-and-play with
auto-learning of DLCIs.
• Congestion control
(BECN/FECN).
• Works with Athena
routing-feature set.
Because the routers use PPP,
your users will be able to get the
same kind of robust Internet
connection they would get by
using a standard phone line and
high-speed modem.
