T
he ServSwitch Summit is a
scalable, multiplatform,
Category 5 based KVM switch.
Ideal for server management, it
meets space, distance, and
capacity needs, eliminates any
single point of failure, supports
scalable growth, and reduces the
total cost of ownership in the data
center. It’s perfect for tiered
configurations that provide
economical, secure, non-blocked
multi-user access to 1024 servers
up to 500 feet (152.4 m) from up to
16 users.
Models are available for up to
2, 4, 8, or 16 user stations and up
to 32, 42, or 64 computer interface
modules.
A ServSwitch Summit consists
of the following components:
• A base unit. This is an
intelligent, non-blocking
control center that connects
users to selected computers.
Manage your servers with this
Category 5 based KVM switch.
Key Features
SERVSWITCH SUMMIT
The base unit includes RJ-45
jacks for connecting up to 2, 4,
8, or 16 user stations and up to
32, 42, or 64 Computer
Interface Modules (CIMs).
• A user station. This connects
each user console (PS/2
®
or
Sun
®
keyboard, mouse, and
monitor) to the base unit and
provides a user interface to
computers.
• Computer Interface Modules
(CIMs). These connect each
computer to the base unit and
contain the transmitters for
relaying CAT5 signals and
programmable ID information
to and from the base unit.
They provide dedicated, keep-
alive keyboard/mouse
emulation and fail-safe KVM
access. CIMs are available in
versions for PS/2, Sun HD15
video, USB, and serial
connections. To gain local
access from a PC to a User
Station, order the KV1519A
CIM.
A powerful on-screen user
interface ensures simple
operation. You can also create up
to 512 customized user profiles
that have flexible, multi-level
security for authorized server
access. Choose private, public, or
PC-share system operation mode.
Use Category 5 UTP cable
(part number EYN840A) for
connecting components to the
ServSwitch Summit. The pinout
specifications for RJ-45
connectors on Category 5 cable
should be T568B.
Installation is plug-and-play,
and components are hot-
swappable.
On-site system maintenance
is available via the PC’s DB9
serial port to ServSwitch DB9
admin port.
