For easy installation, SimpleTech Removable Hard Drives are distributed with a EZ-Drive installation software diskette.
Simply follow the Installation Procedure in this Quick Installation Guide and then power up to verify that the computer
recognizes the drive.

• Before removing the hard drive from the packaging material, allow the hard drive to reach room temperature.

• Do not drop, bump or jar the hard drive.

• Do not insert or extract the hard drive while the computer is on.

• Do not open the hard drive.

Refer to the sample in Figure 1 and proceed as follows:

1. Create a bootable floppy diskette. This can be done by typing “format a: /s” from a DOS prompt.

2. Turn off the computer.  Remove all external cables and peripheral devices from the system unit.

3. Remove the power cord and battery pack.

4. Locate and remove the disk drive access cover. If you cannot find it, consult your computer user guide or call

the computer vendor.

5. Remove the existing drive from the drive compartment.

6. Slide the new hard drive into the drive compartment.  Press firmly to make sure the drive is fully seated.

7. Replace the disk drive access cover.

8. Replace the battery pack and all cables.

9. Insert the bootable diskette that was created in step 1. Power up to verify that the computer recognizes the

drive. The system should boot to the diskette. When you see the A: prompt , insert the EZ-Drive diskette and
type “ezdrive” and <Enter>.

10. Follow the on-screen instructions in EZ-Drive to complete the installation of the hard drive.

The installation of the Removable Hard Drive is complete. You may now install the operating system of your choice onto
the hard drive.
