Sonos Setup Using Controller 
If you don’t have digital music stored on your computer, or don’t use Windows® or 
Macintosh OS X® operating systems, you can put the Sonos System Setup CD away in a 
safe place and use the handheld Sonos Controller to set up your Sonos Digital Music 
System. 
If you do have digital music stored on a computer or a network-attached storage (NAS) 
device, the computer directories or folders that contain your music files must be shared 
so that the Sonos Digital Music System can access them. Before you begin, enable file 
sharing 
on each computer that holds the music files you want to access.The Sonos 
Digital Music System will recognize many standard shared folders on your computer or 
network-attached storage (NAS) device. For additional information, visit our Web site at

System Setup Using the Controller
1.
Connect the first ZonePlayer to your router using a standard Ethernet cable 
(included), and then apply power. 
• If you have structured (built-in) wiring that connects to a router located else-
where in your home, you can connect the Ethernet cable from a live wall plate 
into one of the Ethernet switch connectors on the back of your ZonePlayer (see 
B in the diagram.)

If you are adding a ZonePlayer 100, attach speakers to your ZonePlayer (see If you 
are connecting a ZonePlayer 100 on 2-6). I
f you are adding a ZonePlayer 80, 
connect to an external amplified device (see "Using Line-out" on page 2-17).
Note:   If you have just purchased a new Sonos Controller CR100, you should charge 
the battery. Connect your Sonos Controller to the power adapter using the adapter 
cable. You can use your Controller while it is charging.
