Brace your elbows against your sides and hold
the camera with both hands. Position the thumb
of your right hand so that it is handy for using
the zoom.
Set the Mode switch to “
Q
”.
When you are taking shots using the viewfinder,
you can make the batteries last longer by
pressing the “DISP” button to switch the LCD
monitor off. (Note that you cannot switch the
LCD monitor off in Macro mode.)
Focus distance: Approx. 80 cm (2.6 ft.) to infinity

For close-up shots, use the Macro setting (

You should use the viewfinder to take pictures
(switch the LCD monitor off) to make the batteries
last longer.

Use a tripod to avoid camera shake, particularly for
shots is dark situations when the flash is set to
Suppressed Flash mode (

Display the menu.
Press the “MENU/OK” button.

Press the “d” or “c”.

Help messages are displayed at the bottom of 
the screen to show you the next step to take. 
Press the button indicated.
Press the “DISP” button 
to use the zoom.
In the Owner’s Manual, black triangles 
are used to indicate up, down, left 
and right. “a” and “b” is used to indicate 
up/down. Left and right are indicated 
by “d” and “c” respectively.
