Using Intelligent Face Detection 
when taking pictures
Intelligent Face Detection allows you to focus on and 
adjust the brightness of people’s faces. Intelligent Face 
Detection is effective with the camera held horizontally or 
vertically.
Available Shooting modes: B, ,  
(H, 
, ,  , 
/, ,  , ), 
N, M, <, >
Available AF modes: All except MF (Manual focus)

Set Intelligent Face Detection.

. Intelligent Face Detection setting changes 
each time you press 
CAUTION
• If the camera is unable to detect faces in an image, it will 
not correct the red eye-effect sufficiently, or not at all.
Also, the camera cannot correct the red-eye effect if the 
face is in profile.
• Correction results may differ depending on the scene.
• The processing may take more time if there are many 
faces in an image.
• When [
 CCD-RAW] is set to [ON] in the [SET-UP] 
menu, the red eye correction function is invalid.
