Choose the size and quality at which still pictures 
are recorded (the options for movie mode are 
shown on page 34).  Large pictures can be printed 
at large sizes with no drop in quality; small pic-
tures require less memory, allowing more pictures 
to be recorded.

rF 31 × 23 cm/12 × 9 in. (r) or 31 × 21 cm/12 × 8 in. 

(g3:2).  Choose 

rF for high-quality prints, 

g3:2 for an aspect ratio of 3 : 2.

The number of pictures that can be taken at cur-
rent settings (pg. 85) is displayed to the right of 
the image quality icon in the monitor.

Image quality is not reset when the camera is turned 
off  or another shooting mode is selected.

Pictures taken at an image quality setting of g 3:2 
have an aspect ratio of 3 : 2, the same as a frame of 
35-mm fi lm.  Pictures taken at other settings have an 
aspect ratio of 4 : 3.
