 FACE DETECTION
Intelligent Face Detection allows the camera
to automatically detect human faces and set
focus and exposure for a face anywhere in
the frame for shots that emphasize portrait
subjects. Choose for group portraits (in vertical
or horizontal orientations) to prevent the camera
from focusing on the background. Intelligent
Face Detection also offers a red-eye removal
option for removing “red-eye” effects caused by
the flash.
B icon appears in monitor
when Intelligent Face
Detection is on.
A Note
•  When removing red-eye effect, select ON for
RED EYE REMOVAL in the setup menu (pg. 97).
  1
  Frame the picture.
If a face is detected, it will
be indicated by a green
border. If there is more
than one face in the
frame, the camera will
select the face closest
to the center; other faces are indicated by
white borders.
  2
 Focus.
Press the shutter button halfway
to focus on the subject in the
green border. Note that, in some
shooting modes, exposure is
adjusted for the current shooting mode
and may not be optimized for the selected
subject.
