Are more glow plugs necessary?
Glow plugs wear, especially in the running-in phase. Thus, we recommend you always keep in store some glow plugs for replacement. There are glow plugs with
different thermal values; proper selection of the glow plug has a great influence on the driving performance. For the run-in phase, you should use 'cold' glow
plugs for high-performance engines. After the run-in phase, you can change to a glow plug with medium thermal value.
Use glow plugs for RC cars only! A wrong glow plug, e.g. for 4-stroke model plane engines let the motor run improperly and aggravate tuning.
Our tip: Degrees of heat of glow plugs
• Standard glow plugs for fuels with nitromethane additive (approx. 5 %)
• Cold glow plugs for fuels with nitromethane additive (approx. 10 %)
• Super cold glow plugs for fuels with nitromethane additive (more than 10 %)
Installation/exchange of glow plugs
Requires a glow plug wrench (lug wrench SW 8, 9, 10 and 12).
Preheating the glow plug
A glow plug starter with rechargeable battery is placed on the glow plug and heats this so that the air-fuel mixture ignites and the engine starts. Once the engine
runs properly, the glow plug starter can be removed.
e) Tools and aids
The model is readily mounted (RtR = Ready to Run). Prior to the start, you have to make and check a few basic settings as well as provide the necessary
accessories and operating materials.
Go through the various points of the check list one after the other, and your model is then ready to run.
Tools
• Allen / hex key for the wheel nuts
• Flat spanner 5mm and 5.5mm to set alignment and inclination
• Allen key 1.5mm for the grub screws on the adjusting rings of the throttle/brake and steering linkages
• Phillips screwdriver
• Normal screwdriver for the throttle stop screw and the main nozzle needle
Auxiliary materials
• Cable clips
• Air filter oil
• After-run oil (special low-viscosity machine oil for lubrication and protection of the combustion chamber from corrosive residues in the engine after operation)
f) Check list for commissioning
What must be done:
• Checking all screw connections and wheel nuts
• Check alignment and tooth backlash of drive
• Function control of servos
• Checking the range of the remote control transmitter
• Check basic carburettor setting
• Screw in glow plug
• Fill in model fuel
• Letting the engine run
Caution! Position indications (front/rear/right/left) always refer to the longitudinal vehicle axis in driving direction (seen forward)!
