The S-VIDEO output is only effective on DVD, not effective on AV source. That is to say, 

the video signal of AV input source can’t be output from the S-VIDEO jack.

Slide AV OUTPUT TYPE  switch on the back of the unit left or right to select A or B.   

When the switch is slid to B side, the AV INPUT signal is directly outputted from AV1 
OUTPUT and it is out of control of any buttons. 
When the switch is slid to A side, the AV OUTPUT signal is under control of MODE button 
or SOURCE.
