HOW TO USE
This product is for household use only.
GETTING STARTED
•  Wash all parts as instructed in CARE AND CLEANING section.
•  Select a level surface where this unit is to be used allowing enough space for
steam to escape without damage to counters, cabinets and walls.
•  Fill kettle with 4 cups (32oz) cold tap water and bring to a boil.
Add 2 cups (16oz) white vinegar, let stand for at least 1 hour or overnight and
discard.
•  Fill kettle to maximum fill line with cold tap water. Bring to boil, discard and
repeat. Kettle is now ready for use.
Note: The kettle only operates when placed on the swivel base with the (    )
button pressed. The kettle automatically shuts off when water has boiled or there
is no water in the kettle.
FILLING THE KETTLE
1. Remove the kettle from the swivel base.
2. Press the lid release button to open the lid.
3. Fill with desired amount of cold tap water.
Important: Do not…
•  operate the kettle without water
•  operate the kettle without the filter in place
•  overfill the kettle (keep water level below the max fill line
on the water window)
  •  open the lid while the water is heating
4. Make sure the removable filter is in place inside the pour spout (see BUILT-IN
SCALE PROTECTION). Close the lid.
5. Unwind cord from swivel base.
6. Place the kettle securely on the swivel base.
SWITCHING ON
Put the kettle on the stand – take care not to spill. Plug the stand into a power
outlet. Press and release the (    ) button – this switches on the display and the
element. The display will show 100 (flashing), and the kettle will start to heat up.
BOIL
If you want to boil the water, leave it at 100. When the water boils, the element will
switch off, and the display will stop flashing. After about 2 minutes, the display will
switch off.
VARIABLE TEMPERATURE
If you want to heat the water to a different temperature, use the – and + buttons to
change the display from 100 (boil) to the temperature you want. The temperatures
available are: 100 (boil), 95,90,85,80,75,70,65,60,55,50,45 and 40 (°C).
The display will flash while the water is heating, then stop flashing to show that it
has reached the set temperature. After about 2 minutes, the display will switch off.
CHANGING TEMPERATURE
When the kettle has reached the set temperature, you cannot reduce the
temperature setting on the display until the water has cooled down. If you get the
temperature wrong, and want to change it:
Either pour the hot water away, and refill with cold water, or wait until the kettle
cools down (it will cool faster if you open the lid).
KEEP WARM
If you want the kettle to keep the water at the set temperature, press and release the
( ) button. This function only works at the 90,85,80,75,70,65,60,55,50,45, and 40
settings. A dot will appear on the bottom right of the display to show that the keep warm
function is operating. When the keep warm function is operating, the display will not
switch off after a minute; it will remain lit. The element will switch on intermittently, to
keep the water hot. When it is heating, the display will flash. The flashing will stop when
the water again reaches the set temperature. To cancel the keep warm function, press
and release the (     ) button again – the dot will disappear.
Caution: Do not let the water level get below 2 cups (16oz)
SWITCHING OFF
To switch off manually, press and release (    ). This will switch off the element and
the display, and put the kettle into standby mode. To save electricity, unplug the
stand.
BUILT-IN SCALE PROTECTION
Note:
Lime scale forms over time in the kettle when water is heated. Though
harmless, it may be bothersome. The concealed heating element in the kettle is
designed to help reduce scale buildup. The kettle has a removable filter at the
bottom of the pour spout to prevent particles from pouring into your beverage.
•Always have the removable filter in place just behind the spout when using the kettle.
CARE AND CLEANING
This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service
personnel.
CLEANING
1. Before cleaning, be sure the base is unplugged and the kettle has cooled
completely. Empty any remaining water from the kettle.
2. Pull out the removable filter for cleaning. Wash the filter in hot, soapy water and
rinse or place it in the utensil holder of the dishwasher.
3. Wash the inside of the kettle with hot, soapy water and rinse.
Important: Never immerse the kettle in water or other liquids or place
in a dishwasher.
4. Wipe exterior of the kettle and base with a damp cloth or sponge and dry.
Note: The heating element at the bottom of the interior may discolor. This will not
affect performance. Do not use abrasive soaps, cleansers, or scouring pads.
Note: Over time, the kettle may heat up but will not boil, depending on your use and
the hardness of the water in your area. When this happens, it is time for descaling.
