Setting up the password

We recommend you to print out the following instructions, as these instructions cannot be
displayed while setting up the password.

You have three attempts to enter the correct password. Then the system is blocked. You
must now switch off the notebook first before you attempt a reboot. If you have forgotten
your password, please contact your customer service centre.

With the

BIOS Setup

you can set up a user password and a supervisor password.

The supervisor password enables you to access the entire system configuration (access to the

BIOS

Setup

The user password only allows you limited access to the configuration of the

BIOS Setup

. You cannot

assign a user password until after you have set up a supervisor password.

Setting up the password

Switch the notebook on.

Start the

BIOS Setup

Change to the

Security

menu.

Use the cursor keys

to select the password.

Press the Enter key to change the setting.

The Password dialogue field appears on the screen.

Enter the password and press the Enter key.

The password can be up to seven characters long. You can only use lowercase letters and
numbers. The characters do not appear on the screen during entry.

You are asked to confirm the password.

Enter the password again and confirm with the Enter key.

Changing and deleting a password

Switch the notebook on.

Start the

BIOS Setup

Change to the

Security

menu.

Use the key

The Password dialogue field appears on the screen.

Enter your current password and press the Enter key.

Enter a new password and press the Enter key if you want to change your current password.

Press the Enter key.

You are asked to confirm the password.

Enter the password again and confirm with the Enter key.
