Setting Shooting Mode
MEMO
• Program shift can be used when Suppressed flash 
(
➝p.77) is set in flash mode.
• The shutter speed and aperture setting appear in yellow 
when the camera is in Program shift mode.
• Any of following cancels Program shift:
- Changing the Mode dial setting
- Setting the camera to Playback mode
- Turning the camera off
- Popping the flash up
CAUTION
Program shift cannot be used when [
 DYNAMIC 
RANGE] is set to [AUTO], and [S ISO] is set to 
[AUTO(400)], [AUTO(800)] or [AUTO(1600)].
M Shutter Priority AE
This is an automatic mode to set the shutter speed.
Use this mode to freeze a moving subject (fast shutter 
speed) or convey the impression of movement (slow 
shutter speed).

Setting the shutter speed
B Press the shutter button to take 
pictures.

When the brightness of the 
subject is outside the camera’s 
brightness metering range, [---] 
appears as the shutter speed and 
aperture setting on the screen.
A Rotate the command dial to select the 
shutter speed.
B Press the shutter button to take 
pictures.
