Creative control and versatility at your fingertips
And more convenient shooting features
Ergonomic handling, intuitive
operation
The FinePix S7000 boasts a highly
ergonomic design, handling much like a
small, high-quality SLR. For all of its fea-
tures and capabilities, the body is remark-
ably compact. And the intelligent control
layout makes operation so easy and intu-
itive that you can concentrate on the
photo rather than the camera.
High-definition 235,000-pixel
electronic viewfinder (EVF)
The high-resolu-
tion 235,000-
pixel LCD
viewfinder
ensures a bright,
crystal-clear pre-
view image. Plus
its smooth
response pre-
vents the image
from freezing on
the monitor
when you press
the shutter but-
ton. Apart from enhanced frame coverage,
it provides full on-screen information for
each shot, including shot number, shutter
speed, f-stop, ISO setting, exposure com-
pensation, histogram, and more. A diopter
control lets you adjust the EVF for a perfect
match to your own eyesight.
Dual media slots
The FinePix
S7000 comes
with conve-
nient dual
media slots
for xD-Picture
Card™ and
Microdrive™.
You can even
insert media in both
slots and then select
which one you want to
use to store each
image as you shoot.
Creative options
For further powerful telephoto effects or
wide-angle shots, the FinePix S7000 is
compatible with two optional conversion
lenses. The Wide Conversion Lens WL-
FX9B provides a focal conversion ratio of
0.79X, equivalent to 28mm on a 35mm
camera. The Tele Conversion Lens TL-FX9B
has a 1.5X conversion factor, extending the
telephoto power to 315mm equivalent.
Hot-shoe and cable release
socket
Want even
more bril-
liance,
range, and
speed in
your pho-
tography?
In addition
to its pow-
erful built-
in pop-up flash, the FinePix S7000 offers
a hot shoe for external flash. The camera
can synchronize with an outboard flash at
any shutter speed up to 1/1000 second.
The FinePix S7000 incorporates a
threaded cable release socket into the
shutter release button. Both studio and
macro photographers will appreciate the
facility for being able to take photographs
without risking camera shake.
“Motion Photo” VGA movie
recording
The FinePix S7000’s high-performance
movie mode captures up to approx. 7.4
minutes* of video at 640
×
480 pixels, or
about 14.6 minutes* at 320
×
240 pixels
(approx.14.6 minutes*), both at a full 30
frames/second. Captured video clips are
smooth and highly detailed, and recorded
in the Motion JPEG (AVI) format, so that
you can also enjoy viewing each frame as
a high-quality still image.
* When using a 512MB xD-Picture Card™ (DPC-512)
Multi-language display
The FinePix S7000’s LCD menu can be
displayed in any of six languages —
English, French, German, Spanish,
Chinese or Japanese.
Low power consumption
Engineered for maximum power efficiency,
the FinePix S7000 is capable of taking up
to 210 shots, with the LCD on and the
flash used 50% of the time, on a single
set of four AA alkaline batteries.
High-speed USB 2.0 link to your PC
The FinePix S7000 supports the high-
speed USB 2.0 digital
interface. Simply plug
the cable into your
computer and you’ll
enjoy extremely rapid
transfer of even large
amounts of
image data.
Full range of exposure options
The FinePix S7000
provides six different
ways to get the
exposure you want:
Auto mode [AUTO]
for the ultimate in
ease, plus
Programmed AE [P], Aperture-Priority AE
[A] (a range of 10 steps from f/2.8 to f/8),
Shutter Speed-Priority AE [S] (1/1000 to
3 seconds), Manual [M], and Scene
Position [SP] mode. The Scene Position
mode gives you instant access to four spe-
cial preset program modes: Portrait,
Landscape, Sports, and Night Scene.
Whatever the situation, whatever the light-
ing, you can be sure of a perfect exposure.
For optimal exposures in even the most
difficult light conditions, the FinePix S7000
offers three light metering choices: 64-zone
TTL metering-multi, Spot, and Average.
1-cm Super Macro
The Super Macro mode of the FinePix
S7000 lets you move in to an amazing
1cm from your subject. At this distance,
an area measuring approximately 20
×
30mm fills the finder frame.
Comprehensive manual controls
• Manual focus
In addition to the highly accurate dual-
method autofocus system, you’re free to
focus manually at any time, simply by
turning the focus ring on the lens barrel.
• Manual white balance
The camera offers six white balance pre-
sets as well as precise fine-tuning. In
addition to manual white balance, the
FinePix S7000 offers a Custom White
Balance setting: simply select this mode
to preset the white balance for as long as
required. This function is especially useful
when the exact lighting conditions cannot
be determined on the spot.
• Ultra high-speed shutter and
extended exposure
In Manual mode, the FinePix S7000 offers
an exceptionally wide range of shutter
speeds, from an ultra-fast 1/10,000 sec-
ond to an improved extended exposure
capability of up to 15 seconds. Stop the
fastest action or slow down the shutter for
special effects – you have total control.
• Auto exposure bracketing
When the shot is important and the expo-
sure is tricky, rely on the Auto Exposure
Bracketing function. It automatically cap-
tures three consecutive exposures in 1/3,
2/3 or 1 EV increments over and under the
set exposure, assuring one that’s just right.
• Exposure compensation
Exposure compensation lets you fine-tune
exposure in the Programmed AE, Aperture-
Priority AE and Shutter-Priority AE modes,
from –2 to +2 EV in 1/3-stop increments.
• Multi-exposure shooting
A multi-exposure mode allows you overlay
images in the same file, for a creative
double-exposure effect.
• Sharpness setting
The sharpness adjustment lets you tailor
the in-camera sharpening to your own
needs and tastes. Available are Hard,
Normal and Soft settings.
• Preview/post-view function
This function displays the most recently
captured image on-screen. Post-view dis-
plays the image for approximately two
seconds, then automatically records it to
the storage media card. Preview lets you
view the image before deciding whether
to record it or not.
• Histogram display
The Histogram display is particularly con-
venient for on-the-spot confirmation of
exposure, from highlights to shadows.
You may also view the histogram of any
captured image on the LCD monitor
before or after recording the image.
