4. Text input
You can input Korean, English, symbols 
and numbers in the same way as all the 
phone functions such as writing a mes-
sage, name input etc.
Keys for numbers/letters
The following table shows letters/numbers 
displayed on screen when you press the 
corresponding keys.
Input
Press the corresponding keys to input let-
ters. To delete a character, press Clear
To erase more than two characters, press 
Clear as many times as required. Press and 
hold Clear to erase all characters entered.
Input mode switching and 
numbers/symbols input
You can enter the characters selecting one 
of Korean/English/Number/Symbol modes.
• To change the mode into Korean, capi-
tal and small letter of English, press 
. Input mode is changed to Kore-
an, capital and small letter of English in 
order. You can identify the current in-
put mode with 
.
• To switch to number mode, press and 
hold 
 until 
 is displayed. To 
switch back to the text mode, press and 
hold  
again.
• To switch to symbol mode, press 
 
in the Korean or English mode. Scroll to 
the desired symbols and press Use. You 
can enter the symbol. In the symbol 
mode, 
 is displayed.
Korean input
Nokia 8887 provides an easy way to enter 
the Korean. You can select the desired 
consonants/vowels without pressing the 
same key several times. With predictive 
text input you can key in any characters by 
single keypresses. Since this function pre-
dicts the combination of consonants/vow-
els and displays the list of its potential
