Why doesn’t StorageSync recognize my removable media drive? 

Be sure the media drive is properly and securely connected to your computer. Use 
Windows Explorer to see whether your computer’s operating system recognizes the 
media drive. 

 

Why doesn’t StorageSync start automatically when my computer boots? 

StorageSync may not be configured to start automatically. Be sure Load StorageSync 
in Startups is checked in the StorageSync System tray menu (see “Accessing 
StorageSync through the System Tray” on page 23). 

 

What pitfalls should I avoid when backing up data? 

Do not select temporary files and folders for backup, because they increase backup 
times. In fact, temporary files and folders are not meant to be backed up. Examples of 
such temporary files and folders are: 

C:\Documents and Settings\ComputerName\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files 

C:\Documents and Settings\ComputerName\Local Settings\Temp 

C:\WINDOWS\Temp 

 

Why doesn’t StorageSync back up some files? 

The files may be open and in use by other applications. Make sure all files to be backed 
up are closed. If an error occurs during the backup, the error will be entered into the log 
file.
