Press 23 to choose a picture-taking mode 
(Smart Capture, Program, or a Scene mode).

 

Choose a Scene mode before taking a picture.

Press 23 to change the picture-taking mode to Scene 
modes (SCN), then press the 4 button.

Press 2345 to highlight a Scene mode, then press 
the 4 button.

Full-frame portraits of people. 

Subjects that are in motion. Shutter speed is fast. 

Distant scenes. 

Close range. Use available light instead of flash. 

Subjects at dusk. 

Subjects that are in shadow or “backlit.” 

Subjects illuminated by candlelight. 

Action pictures of children in bright light. 

Bright beach or snow scenes. 

Fireworks. Place the camera on a tripod. 

Close-ups of yourself. 

Red-eye reduction of people in low-light. 

People indoors, in low-light scenes. 

“Stitching” 2 or 3 pictures into 1 panoramic scene. 

Reducing blur of camera shake or subject motion.
