Using the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 with a Laptop

Please check if your computer is suited for handling real-time audio processing without drop-
outs.  The  TRAKTOR  KONTROL  S4  Control  Panel  provides  you  with  a  useful  tool  to  achieve
this. See chapter
In general, it is not recommended to use laptops with shared-memory graphic cards. You will
need all the memory and processing power available for your audio software.
There are some steps to optimize your laptop’s audio performance:
It is not recommended to run the laptop on battery, as power management might slow the
clock rate of the CPU down, to save battery.
Disconnect all unused hardware (e.g. printer, scanner). This will increase the amount of
processing power available for your music software.
Laptops often are equipped with built-in devices that disturb audio processing, most com-
monly a network adapter or a wireless LAN card. You might need to disable these devices
while working with the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4.

Loose Jog Wheel Top Plate

The  flat,  round,  push-sensitive  surface  of  the  jog  wheels  on  your  TKS4  was  designed  to  be
easily  replaceable.  Due  to  heavy  shocks  or  extreme  vibration  during  travelling,  in  some  rare
cases a jog wheel top plate might become loose or detached from the controller.
It can easily be reattached to the base of the jog wheel. To do this:
1.
Align the connector pins on the bottom of the top plate with the corresponding clips on
the jog wheel base.
2.
Hold the rubber rim of the wheel steady with one hand.
3.
Use the other hand to push the plate down into the round central area of the jog wheel
and twist the plate around to the left (anti-clockwise) until the pins click back into the
clips on the base (you may hear a clicking sound).
