When the camera is rotated to shoot a portrait (vertical) image, the camera records its position 
change and displays the image in the portrait position.
• The left and right side of the image vertically orientated will be displayed in black.
• Depending on the shooting angle of the camera, the orientation of the image may not be recorded 
correctly. If an image is not recorded in the correct orientation, you can rotate the image, following the 
procedure on page 69.
Displays the recorded image on the screen for approximately two seconds immediately after 
shooting a still image.
• If you press the shutter button halfway down, the recorded image display disappears and you can 
immediately shoot the next image.
This sets the smile detection level when 
 (Smile Shutter) (page 50) mode is selected in the 
Scene Selection.
• The smile can be difficult to detect under the following conditions.
– When the face of the subject is too dark or too bright and the exposure is not appropriate
– When the face of the subject is far from the camera
– When the subject is wearing sunglasses or glasses with thick frames
– When the front hair, hat, or other objects are covering the eyes
– When the subject is not facing towards the front
