Focus Modes
The camera will focus your images either automatically, or at pre-defined distances to your
subject by using: [AF] AUTO FOCUS, [ 
 ] MACRO, [ 
 ] INFINITY, [ 1m ] FIXED AT
1 Meter (3 feet) or [ 3m ] FIXED AT 3 Meters (9 feet) .
Your focus preference will remains after the power is turned OFF manually or by auto
power OFF.
1. Rotate the mode dial to [ 
 ] automatic photography
mode, [ 
  ] manual photography mode or [ 
  ]
movie mode. Power on the camera.
2. Press the OK button to enter the photography tab menu
mode. (Press OK twice if the photo tab menu has    al-
ready hidden.)
3. Select [FOCUS] using the   /   buttons, and then press
the 
 button.
A menu bar of focus mode icons is displayed.
4. Choose the desired scene mode using the   /   buttons,
and press the OK button to make the selection.
To cancel the selected scene mode, press the 
button.
5. Press the OK button again and the camera is now
ready to take a shot.
Focus Mode
Description
[AF] AUTO FOCUS
Select this mode when you want the camera to automatically focus
your images.
 ] MACRO
Select this mode for close-up shots within 10cm to 50cm ( 4 to 20
inches) with the lens at wide/zoom off; or 90cm to 120cm (3 to 4
feet) with the optical zoom full zoomed (10X.).
 ] INFINITY
Select this mode when you want to take images of subjects greater
than 5 meters (15 feet) from the camera.
[1m] FIXED AT 1M
Select this mode when you want to take images of subjects
approximately 1 meter (3 feet) from the camera.
[3m] FIXED AT 3M
Select this mode when you want to take images of subjects
approximately 3 meters (9 feet) from the camera.

When [1m], [3m] or [ 
 ] is set, the camera takes images with the focus set to a fixed
distance.
This camera offers an accurate auto-focus mechanism. However, sometimes will be difficult
to focus or not be able to focus under the follwing situations:
When there are objects before or behind the subject;
Very shiny subjects such as a mirror or car body;
Subjects that hardly reflect any light such as hair or fur;
When the contrast is extremely low;
Subjects moving at high speed;
Subjects without substance such as smoke or flame;
Subjects viewed through glass;
Subjects are far away and dark.
