 Chapter 10
Problem: My digital pen is out of ink (no ink appears on the
paper).
Try changing the ink refill (ink cartridge). The ThinkScribe digital
notepad includes four refills, which are especially designed for the
digital pen. See Chapter 1: Digital Notepad and Pen Features for
information about changing the ink refill.
Ink Manager Pro problems
Problem: Most of my notes transferred to the computer, but some
ink is missing.
When the computer is turned on, your ink transfers to the
computer in intervals. If you hesitate while writing words, it is
possible that the first part of the word transfers before you finish
the word. At the next transfer, the remaining ink strokes will
appear.
The transfer might be delayed if you rest the digital pen
(uncapped) on the digital notepad. Instead, hold the pen away
from the notepad to let the transfer take place.
If the transfer is finished and your ink is still missing, try the
following suggestions:
• If ink from the edge of the page is missing, it might be due
to the paper size. The ThinkScribe is designed for 8-1/2” X
11” notepads. If you are using standard paper, the edges of
the paper (about 1/4”) cannot be sensed by the ThinkScribe.
IBM offers special pre-numbered notepads that have an
indicator strip to show the active area. To order them, press
the ThinkPad button on your computer to open Access
ThinkPad. Select the Service & Support icon to open the
IBM Web site.
If you use the IBM pre-numbered notepad, you should
notice letters getting cut off. However, it is still possible if
the paper shifts or if you hold your pen at a very low angle.
• If ink from the first word is missing, the digital pen might
have been turned off when you started writing it. The pen is
designed to turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity to conserve
