Connecting speakers
To connect your speakers:
Connect your speaker cables to the receiver.
Be sure to connect the speakers firmly and
correctly according to the channel (left and
right) and the polarity (+ and -). If you do not
make the connections correctly, you will not
hear any sounds from the speakers.
If the sound is unnatural and lacks bass, the
speaker polarity is incorrect.
After installing the speakers, adjust the
speaker settings according to your
environment and speaker layout. For more
information, see “Modifying the speaker
settings” on page 19.
Connecting headphones
To connect your headphones:
Insert the headphone plug into the
headphone jack on the receiver.
Connecting the power
To connect your receiver to power:
Plug the power cord into an AC outlet.
Installing batteries
To install the batteries:
Remove the cover.
Caution
Use speakers with an impedance of 6
Ω
 or more.
Caution
Do not let the bare speaker wires touch each other
or any metal part of this receiver. Doing so may

When listening to a DTS or Dolby Digital
program source, if the headphones are
plugged in and the SPEAKER button is set to
off, the receiver enters the 2CH downmix mode
automatically. For more information, see “2CH
downmix mode” on page 13.
When EXTERNAL IN is selected as an input
source, only the front left and front right
channel signals can be reproduced through the
headphones.

Do not use Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries in this
remote control.
