PDF Files

In PDF files, the content is scaled to fit the Reader when the text size is Small. When the text 
size is small, you will see the PDF as it would appear on a larger screen, with layout and graphics 
preserved.

When viewing a PDF file, try the Small text size first. If that is too small, try larger sizes.

Larger text sizes and Extra small involve scaling the font and reflowing the text.

For PDF files in some foreign languages, your 

NOOK

 is not able to resize the fonts. For 

these, you will see one size (Small).

Images

Some eBooks and most magazines and newspapers contain images. The images that are present are 
those that were included in the item by the publisher.

For EPUB and PDB files, your 

NOOK

 displays the images, irrespective of the text font size. The 

images are a fixed size; you cannot zoom in or out.

• 

For PDF files when the text size is Small, you will see the PDF as it would appear on a larger 
screen, with layout and images preserved. An attempt is made to display images in other text 
sizes than Small, but image display is not guaranteed in other text sizes. When images are 
displayed at other text sizes, they are displayed in the sizes embedded in the PDF file.

Opening DRM-secured Digital Content

Some digital content is protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM). Your 

NOOK

 manages 

encryption information it needs to open digital content that is protected by DRM. Different rules 
apply for the My B&N Library and My Documents sections of your library.
