Controlling Flash memory 
(Optional)
A Flash memory device may be connected to this unit. With 
flash memory connected, playback of files on the device is 
controlled from this unit.
• The controls on this unit for flash memory operation are 
operative only when flash memory is connected.
Playing MP3/WMA/AAC Files 
with Flash memory (Optional)
If you connect flash memory containing MP3/WMA/AAC, 
you can play these files on this unit.

To pause playback, press 
/
/ENT.
Pressing /
/ENT again will resume the playback.
• The root folder is displayed as “ROOT” in the Folder 
Name Search mode.
• When a search is made in the USB mode, any song being 
played back will be stopped.
• This unit plays back files on a flash memory device with 
the same controls and modes as playback of CDs 
containing MP3/WMA/AAC. For details, refer to “CD/
MP3/WMA/AAC” on pages 10 to 13.
• Before disconnecting flash memory, be sure to change to 
another source or set to pause.
• The playback time may not be correctly displayed when 
a VBR (Variable Bit Rate) recorded file is played back.

Open the cover of the USB Port.

Connect the flash memory directly to the USB 
port, or via the USB cable.
Remove Flash memory

Carefully, pull out the flash memory from the 
USB cable or the USB port.

Close the cover of the USB Port.
• Change to a source other than the flash memory mode, 
then remove the flash memory. Removing it while 
listening could damage its data.
• When removing flash memory, pull it out straight.
• If the flash memory device is not recognized upon 
insertion, remove it and try again.
• Route the USB cable away from other cables, etc.
• After removing the flash memory, close the cover of the 
USB port to prevent dust or foreign objects from entering 
and causing a malfunction.
About MP3/WMA/AAC File for 
Flash Memory
Playing back MP3/WMA/AAC
MP3/WMA/AAC files are prepared, then stored to flash 
memory. This unit can recognize at most 100 folders 
(including root folder) and 100 files per folder stored. 
Playback may not be performed if the limitations 
described above are exceeded.
Do not make a file’s playback time more than 1 hour.
Media supported
This device can play back flash memory media.
Corresponding File Systems
This device supports FAT 12/16/32 for flash memory 
devices.
