Chapter 5  Operating the AIT Drive

When the initialization ends, press the [CANCEL] button twice to return to 
the menu, select “7.Move Tape”, then press the [ENTER] button.

Use the V and v buttons to set the 
element address of the slot where 
the cleaning cartridge is set, then 
press the [ENTER] button.

Make sure that “DR” is selected, then press the [ENTER] button.

When “[ENTER] to activate” 
appears, press the [ENTER] button.

The cleaning cartridge moves to the AIT drive, and cleaning begins. 
Cleaning takes about 30 seconds. (No message is displayed to indicate that 
cleaning is completed. Please wait for about 30 seconds.)

When cleaning is finished, use the Move Tape Menu to move the cleaning 
cartridge form the AIT drive to the AIT library.

Use the “Eject From Library” of the Eject/Insert Menu to take out the 
cleaning cartridge.

Press the [CANCEL] button three times to return to the status display.

If an error message appears, perform one of the following.
• When “Cleaning Tape at EOM” is displayed, a spent cleaning cartridge is set 

in the AIT drive. Replace the spent cleaning cartridge with a new one.

• When “Clean failure” is displayed, cleaning failed. Repeat the cleaning 

procedure.
