The extension telephone will not ring.

TEL/FAX delayed ring count: 
Up to 9 ring signals will be generated before the unit answers, depending on feature setting #78 on page 80.
In the TEL/FAX mode, the unit will not generate an audible ring during this time.
Silent fax recognition ring count:
The unit generates audible rings to indicate that it is receiving a voice call. 3 to 6 rings will be generated,
depending on feature setting #30 on page 80. This signal will not ring at an extension telephone.
For KX-FP101: If you absolutely must use another phone on the same phone line, you can disengage the
TEL/FAX mode on a call by call basic by pressing 
before the fax machine begins
communicating.
Once the fax machine has activated, the only way to turn it off is by pressing 
on the unit.
