retransmit <interval>

Sets the interval for retransmitting a DNS query. 

•

interval

 is a positive integer that indicates the 

time interval in seconds (

), minutes (

), or hours 

(

). If you do not specify a measurement unit, 

seconds is assumed. The default is 2 (2 seconds).

count <count>

Specifies the number of retries. 

•

count

 is a non-negative integer that indicates the 

maximum number of times a DNS query is 
retransmitted. The default is 3.

ttl <ttl>

Specifies the maximum time to live (TTL) value for 
entries in the DNS cache. After the TTL has expired, 
the entries are discarded.

ttl

 is a non-negative integer that indicates the 

TTL value in seconds (s), minutes (

m

), hours (

h

), or 

days (d). You can enter compound values (for 
example, 2h30m). If you do not specify a 
measurement unit, seconds is assumed. The 
default is 3h (3 hours).

health <interval>

Sets the interval for the Nortel SNAS 4050 to check the 
health of the DNS servers. At the specified interval, the 
Nortel SNAS 4050 performs a DNS query to each DNS 
server in the system configuration to determine its 
health status.

Sets the health check down counter.

Sets the health check up counter.

 is a positive integer that indicates the 

number of times a DNS server health check returns 
a positive response before the Nortel SNAS 4050 
determines the DNS server is up. The default is 2.
