n : 1 Connection (Multi-link 2)
• One PLC is connected to a maximum of four UG230 units.
• An original network is created where the UG230 (Local Port 1) that is directly connected to the
PLC is the master station, and other three UG230 are slave stations.  Only the master station
makes communications directly with the PLC, and the slave stations make communications with
the PLC via the master station.
• Communications between the UG230 master station and the PLC depend on the communication
speed set on the PLC.  The maximum available speed for the UG230 is 115 kbps, which is higher
than the one available with multi-link connection described in “4. n : 1 Connection (Multi-link).
• This multi-link connection is available with almost all the PLC models that support 1 : 1 connection.
(The connection between the master station and the PLC is the same as the one for 1 : 1
connection.)
• Use the RS-485 2-wire connection between stations of the UG230.  Please use Fuji’s multi-link 2
master cable (UG00C-H) for connection between the master station (local port 1) and the slave
station (local port 2).
• The UG230, UG30 series and UG20 series can be used together.  The UG20 series can be the
master station.
(However, when UG220/UG221 is the master station, the slave station must be UG220/UG221.
Also, depending on the hardware version of the UG20 series, multi-link 2 connection may not be
supported.  Refer to the User’s Manual <UG20 series Hardware> (FEH352).
• For more information on wiring and communication settings, refer to the User’s Manual <PLC
Connection> (FEH380).
