Backup
Backup
To make a copy of the original floppy dis-
kette or a file on the hard disk. Making a
backup of your disks or files ensures that
you won't lose data if the originals are lost

Binary digit. This is the smallest unit of
information that a computer can hold. The

Bitmap
A set of bits that represent a graphic im-

A character in a font that's rendered as a

Buffer
A "holding area" in the memory where in-
formation can be stored by one program or
device and then read by another. For ex-
ample, some printers have built-in memory
to store text that comes from the computer
